A Study on the Nnoise Induced Hearing Loss


Abstract
This study was conducted in order to evaluate the prevalence of the hearing loss due to noise among the 1566 manufacturing industrial workers at 65 industrial establishments in Youngdeungpo industrial area over a period of seven months. from April 1 to October 31, 1976.
The results obtained were as follows:
1) The prevalence rate of hearing loss was 16.5% that is 258 of 1566 workers. 2) The highest prevalence rate by industry was indicated in rubber product manufacturing industries (33.3%) and there was no hearing loss of workers in printing industries.
3) The higher the noise level, the higher the prevalence rate of hearing loss was observed.
4) The longer the period of work, the more the workers were disturbed to hearing.
5) The more the age of the workers, the higher the prevalence rate of hearing loss was indicated.
